Sheikh Tidiane Faye
High-jump pioneer
1948–2013Sheikh Tidiane Faye won The Gambia’s first Commonwealth Games medal with high-jump bronze at Edinburgh in 1970. He followed it with silver at the 1973 African Games. A high and long jumper, he also competed collegiately at Middle Tennessee State in the United States.
